Dear NYU, SERIOUSLY??!!!

First up, I’d like to know what you were smoking, because, seriously?!! Thio Li Ann, teaching HUMAN RIGHTS IN ASIA. Just in case the lot of you weren’t quite on the up and up about what happened with this cuckoo nutjob in Singapore during the AWARE thing in April. This is a woman who wants to continue imprisoning gay people in Singapore. She’s outrightly opposed to homosexuality and I’d say women’s rights as well considering her stance during the AWARE thing. Human rights, she is not. Unless you want to consider that she might be into the regression of human rights in Asia and that is what you want to promote, well, in which case, I guess you are justified.

But don’t expect the more human rights inclined of us to have any other reaction than “Pathoooey!” when anyone mentions Thio Li Ann lecturing on Human Rights in Asia in NYU. Because from her behavior so far? That woman doesn’t really believe in human rights for anyone other than the heterosexual male. And maaaaaybe, partial human rights for the heterosexual female, that doesn’t involve reproductive freedom. For everyone else, well, I don’t think she believes in it as well.

Anyway, here is a brilliant open letter to our one and only Thio-liban. I’ll rant more on this later.
